Bloody Marys

makes 8 to 10


3 cups tomato juice
3 tbsp prepared horseradish
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp smoked soy sauce
1/4 cup pickled pepper (pepperoncini) brine
2 lemons, juiced
1 tsp freshly ground pepper
Hot sauce, such as Tabasco or Crystal, to taste
8 oz vodka
celery, lemon wedges, and olives to garnish
pickles and/or whole shrimp, optional


In a large pitcher, combine the tomato juice, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, smoked soy, pickled pepper brine, lemon juice, pepper, and hot sauce. Stir the combine. Let sit for as long as you can bear---overnight is best so the flavors can really marinate. Pour a little vodka into an ice-filled glass then fill with the bloody mix. Top with celery, lemon wedges, olives---fuck it---throw pickles in there, whole shrimp---whatever you want. The garnishes are my favorite part.
