Colby and Ashley met in college in Nevada. Colby woke up one day and thought, why aren’t we making whiskey, with all that we grow on the farm? Once Ashley was introduced to farm life, she never wanted to go back to city life. Words Of Wisdom: “Be good to the land, and the land will be good to you”. “Whenever you do something, you always have to give something back.” Farming requires optimism. “When I die I can’t take it with me; I have to take really good care of the land in order to pass it on.” On Inspo: “We consider ourselves temporary caretakers, custodians, and stewards of the land.” Frey Ranch’s branding, packaging, and visuals are packed with meaning.

Colby and Ashley Frey, ahead on the podcast, two incredible entrepreneurs, co-founders of Frey Ranch Distillers out of Nevada. Colby grew up on this farm and he comes from generations and generations and generations of farmers. So this is a one-of-a-kind conversation. We get to hear all about farm life and about living where you work. A lot of us do that, but for Colby and Ashley, it's on a farm.  We talk about how they built their brand, how they have paid a lot of special attention to ingredients, a lot of special care and love when it comes to branding. All of their branding is packed with meaning. You're going to hear about how Colby is somebody who wants to keep the conversation at the forefront of his industry, talking about grains and the intricacy in that process of using grains for spirits. They take us through what was just their 10-year anniversary in 2024, where they are now, the tours that they give, the collaborations they have with restaurants and mixologists. We talk of course about all their product, their whiskies and bourbon and what else they make on the farm. We get into the history of building, building things with your own two hands that Colby grew up with and why Ashley got a taste of farm life, never looked back.
