From ankle boots to tall boots, let's face it: this is the footwear we favor during colder months. And this season we're loving boots in white, in styles mid calf or lower. The white boots featured currently on the site in "THINGS" got me thinking that while this is the style to grab this season, wearing white boots the right way can be tricky.
Here, 3 outfits to wear with white boots. And beyond the three looks featured here, I'm giving you all the the cues for correct styling below:
Forget A Matchy-Matchy Moment. White boots are best punctuated by outfits grounded in black. Add pops of edgier color for sophistication, as seen here above with a sweater in not-so-basic red and below, a black and white dress with a touch of burgundy.
When Wearing A Skirt Or Dress, Be Sure To Pair White Boots With Tights. White boots look best when they "pop", and the color of your skin won't do the trick. I always, always recommend tights by Spanx. Spanx tights are particularly well constructed. And no matter your body type, it's my opinion that everyone could use the smoothing effect of tights constructed with compression. It gives your silhouette the pulled together look it needs so don't underestimate this aspect of getting dressed. Spanx reversible tights are just genius. These are a beyond useful two-for one for your wardrobe, and are available in black with charcoal, black with brown, and black with navy.
Think High-Low. White boots really shine when worn in this way. For example, if you've purchased the Marc Jacobs Ryder boots from our THINGS: Ankle Twist spread, pair with a long satin slip dress. The Top Shop sequined blazer above looks fresh when paired with J Crew's vintage tee in heather grey and Rag + Bone's bootie with black elasticized paneling (shop this boot below in our round-up).
So put white boots at the top of your list (and at the foot of your closet) this fall and winter, and rethink the neutral normally reserved for vacations and summers. Our love affair with the white boot continues in this round up of 6 more styles we love. -TR
