In the late 1980s, Ron Rezek was hired by a ceiling fan company to conceive a modern design. “At that point, ceiling fans had never really been a design object,” Rezek explained in The New York Times. “Most of the fans on the market were reproduction Victorian fans, and if a guy had a Mies van der Rohe apartment in Chicago, he probably wasn’t going to put one in there.” Rezek’s design was a hit. He went on to create a state-of-the-art collection of sleek, efficient and durable wobble-free fans, and The Modern Fan Company was born.
