In July, we addressed what to wear to a black-tie wedding. Now, we invite you to shop our selects when the wedding invite calls for casual. As mentioned in Part 1 of our Wedding Dress Codes series, the venue doesn't always dictate the dress code, but it can play a major role when the bride and groom are planning. Often, when the invitation says "casual," it means the wedding will be held outdoors or, more specifically, on the beach.
If you're confused by what "casual for a wedding" really means, keep in mind that weddings are celebratory events. Unless the invitation calls for a certain article of clothing (e.g. denim or pants), a beautiful sundress or sleek jumpsuit will keep you looking appropriate. Looking your best should always be the goal, but this more lax code, allows for freedom in regard to materials, dress lengths, and footwear. Our go-to recommendation will always be a simple look that can be dressed up with a statement earring, a great clutch, and dressy sandals. - Alanna Joy Simon
