Chic Traveler | Vacation Style From Slopes To Surf To City

Everyone Deserves A (Stylish) Spring Break

It’s the season for travel and no matter your destination, a few key wardrobe rules apply.

CITY: Think light layers and a hands-free bag. Denim is a must, but choose a style with more flair than your everyday jeans and look for details like a wide-cuffed hem. In the evening, dress up a blazer with pants in a bright color and a bag with shimmer. Avoid sky-high heels so you can tackle that after dinner stroll. Your blazer can work double duty in the day, as well.

BEACH: Choose a caftan that looks like a dress so you’re prepared for any activity that might come up all day long, no matter where you might end up lunching or browsing. Footwear gets an upgrade and helps keep you polished when you're heading off to the beach. Give flip flops a rest and choose espadrilles in a luxe pattern. At night, keep it simple and play with color. A roomy color blocked dress is all you need. Pair with a strappy sandal that has an evening feel. A straw clutch feels right while seaside, and a cashmere wrap will keep you warm on a chilly night.

SLOPES: Fashion meets function. Stand out in a printed pair of ski pants tucked into the ultimate snow shields—moon boots. Add cat eye sunglasses for an unexpected retro touch in a snowy setting. A water resistant carryall pouch in a punchy color is especially useful in a wet climate; it can double as your toiletry bag when packing. At night, stick to a cozy knit dress paired with tights and waterproof boots that look nothing like the all-weather powerhouses they truly are. A cuff and earrings finish off the look. When it comes to your handbag, take the knitwear moment even further and pair with a knit bag that feels artisanal.
