Making A Blowout Last, A Dark Circles-Secret, Mascara That Doesn't Dry Out
Daphne Oz
I have long hair and a lot of it, so I prefer to wash and heat style only as needed to keep it super healthy — which means I like to make my blowouts last. Aveeno Rosewater & Chamomile Blend Dry Shampoo is my favorite. It’s a soft, clear spray that doesn’t leave any powdery buildup. It’s scent is subtle, and I love the volume and refresh to my style I get from a few quick sprays. OK, so full disclosure: I am a skincare freak. I’m also a haircare and makeup freak, but I feel like your skin speaks first, because it shows everything going on inside and out. Food is the best medicine. Too much dairy, sugar, caffeine, not enough sleep, and generally just the hazards that parenting many small children takes I terms of its its toll on your skin, keeps me on the hunt for natural products that help me fight discoloration, balance hydration, and create the lustrous glow that’s the best canvas. I keep my steps to a minimum because time is of the essence. Tata Harper Regenerating Cleanser is my must a couple of times a week, for removing any makeup buildup and dead skin cells, and I’ve fallen in love with their Elixir Vitae treatment. It’s pricey, but it’’s so quality, and I’m obsessed with the skin-plumping results that I see.. I swap moisturizers depending on how my skin is feeling and where I am in the world, but I love oils like Vintner's Daughter, or basic carrot seed or sea buckthorn oils bought on Amazon that have their own natural tint and offer amazing hydration. I keep the skinny tube of Dr. Hauschka Eye Treatment in my makeup bag at all times. I love how clean its formulation is, and it immediately de-puffs and brightens. And I can use it with a Q-tip to clean up any makeup mistakes. Bonus points if you keep an extra tube in your fridge for home use. NARS matte lipstick pencil in Dolce Vita is an easy dusty rose that mirrors my natural "bitten" lip. It works overtime as both a lipliner and lipstick that is matte ,but still creamy and rich. I love to use it to over-line my lips a bit, to fake them fuller. Chantecaille Faux Cils Mascara; I’ve been using the hydrating formula forever. It adds the perfect volume and curl for a statement but natural lash, and each tube lasts a couple months without drying out. If I need more drama, I’m fake lashes all the way: I love the individuals from Ardell, knot free, double flare, in long and medium for a 3D effect. I want liner that gives my eyes definition without being harsh, and Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner in Damsel is great if you like to use your finger to warm and smudge it before it sets and stays in place. My favorite for taking away the mommy under eye bags and puffiness, is Sisley Phyto-Cernes Eclat Dark Circle Treatment #3. It's treatment and coverage in one, and a tube should last you the better part of a year. (Thank me later). Kosas in Tropic Equinox is a creamy blush/bronzer plus highlighter duo that I apply with my ring and middle fingers to instantly bring sunny life to my face midday, or add an extra glow for evening. At home, I just dip into a jar of coconut oil to remove all my makeup, but RMS Beauty Coconut Oil Makeup Remover Wipes are great for easy removal on the go. I work in and around food most days, so fresh breath is top priority. I'll carry Trident Original or Dentyne Ice peppermint gum. I also carry lollipops for emergencies with the kids. I prefer the YumEarth organic vitamin C ones from the health food store, but the stash I grab from Chase Bank works in a pinch.
